August often brings a lot of change to our daily lives and routines. With the first day of school right around the corner, we know there is a lot of anticipation about new class times, new teachers, and new experiences for your child here at Barron Swim School. However, your children are not the only ones going back to school, as many of our swim teachers and teacher’s assistants are, as well! While it’s usually seen as detrimental to your child’s swimming education, here are five reasons why getting a new teacher is actually a good thing!
1. Training the Barron Way
No matter what teacher you have, your child will receive the exact same curriculum content every swim class, guaranteed! When our teachers are hired, they go through an intensive in-water training program where they learn the ins and outs of our curriculum and lesson plans, and each teacher receives a minimum of 80 hours of training before getting their own classes! Other trainings include watching required videos over the different skills we teach, all-staff trainings we have once a month where we gather all of our teachers from both locations to sharpen their teaching skills, and a great student teaching program where our new teachers team up with other trained teachers in ensure they are instructing the Barron way!
2. Student Responsiveness
A new teacher means a new personality! Your child may respond better to this new personality, allowing trust and strong bonds to form between them. Many children respond differently to different personalities, and your child’s new teacher may be a better fit for them!
3. A Fresh Perspective
While all of our teachers are trained to teach the curriculum the same way, each teacher demonstrates differences in their teaching style and individuality within their classes. As a result, this new teacher has the opportunity to connect with your child in a new and exciting way, and this could include things like tweaking the execution of one of the skills your child may be stuck on, as well as offering new explanations that can help your child better understand the curriculum.
4. A Change of Pace
Because each instructor puts their own spin on their classes, your child’s new class with their new teacher may flow differently from their last class with their last teacher, enabling your child to receive a variety of different speeds and critiques as they switch instructors. Some students require a more fast-paced class with constant movement, while others benefit more from a slower momentum. With a new teacher, your child may respond better to this new change of pace, providing them with a new level of comfort, experience, enjoyment, and focus!
5. Faster Skill Attainment
With a new teacher, it is quite possible that your child will be able to gain their skills quicker because of the different personality of the teacher, a fresh perspective, and a change of pace. Here at Barron, our top priority is to teach students the life-saving skill of swimming and give parents the peace of mind that their child will be safer in and around the water. The faster a child learns how to respect bodies of water and what to do in emergency situations, the likelihood of harm inflicted upon them drastically decreases. In fact, taking formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%, and having a new teacher can help increase the chances of your child attaining their skills at a quicker pace!
Barron’s number one priority is the safety and happiness of our students in and around the water. Whether it’s at the pool, the lake, or the ocean, we work hard to give your child the skills they need to stay safer, without fear, in any kind of situation regarding the water. While change can be very hard for a child to understand, it can also be one of the best things for them while they embark upon their swimming journey at Barron Swim School, and we can assure every family that with kindness, laughter, and a little bit of patience, all our instructors here at Barron will always continue to strive to help your child “Build Skills For Life!”
